Overpopulation Pitch
We understand the profound impact and transformative power of communication. However, what is communication primarily used for in daily life? It serves purposes such as economic growth, spreading fake news, and promoting consumerism. Given the current global situation, there is a pressing need for change, especially concerning sensitive topics that require radical actions.
In an academic exercise focused on storytelling for eco-social impact through a communication campaign, we tackled a critical issue: overpopulation and its link to the escalating climate crisis. To convey a powerful message, we aimed to disrupt conventional communication spaces. We chose an unconventional medium – an ELEVATOR – where individuals are compelled to pay attention, their personal space vanishes, and ignoring the message is not an option.
During the elevator pitch, we highlighted gender disparities regarding birth control discussions. We emphasized the importance of addressing this issue first to approach the overpopulation challenge holistically. By urging men to take responsibility and highlighting their daily production of millions of sperm, capable of endless procreation, we advocated for a shift in birth control practices as a more effective solution to tackle overpopulation.
